Treeing Tennessee Brindle
Official Cynology Profile & Standard Data.
History & Overview
Origin and historical development
This breed was assembled deliberately and recently, and the man who did it left a record. In the early 1960s the Reverend Earl Phillips wrote a column for a national hunting dog magazine, and through it he gathered information about brindle tree dogs from readers all over the country.
In his own words the founding stock came from outstanding brindle tree dogs from every part of the country. Many came from the Appalachians, the Ozarks and the country between them.
The result is a tree dog of 16 to 24 inches, and the American Kennel Club records it in the Foundation Stock Service.
