FCI International / C.I.B.
The pinnacle of dog showing. Comprehensive guide to the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) international championship titles.
The title of International Beauty Champion (C.I.B.) is the highest conformation honor awarded by the FCI. It requires dogs to prove their quality across multiple countries under different judges, demonstrating true international excellence. The rules differ significantly depending on whether a breed is subject to working trials according to the FCI breed nomenclature.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the "1 year and 1 day" rule? +
For adult C.I.B. and C.I.E. titles, the time between earning the first CACIB and the last required CACIB must be at least one year and one day. For example, if the first CACIB was won on May 1, 2024, the final CACIB cannot be won before May 2, 2025.
What is the difference between C.I.B. and C.I.E.? +
The C.I.B. (International Beauty Champion) is the standard title. For breeds subject to working trials, earning the C.I.B. requires passing a working test. If the owner of a working breed chooses not to do the working test, they can instead collect 4 CACIBs in 3 countries to earn the C.I.E. (International Show Champion) title.
How do I apply for the C.I.B. title? +
You cannot apply directly to the FCI. Once your dog has met all requirements, you must submit the application through your national canine organization (NCO). They will verify the results and forward the application to the FCI headquarters in Belgium.
Can I use a Reserve CACIB (RCACIB)? +
Yes, under specific conditions. If the dog that won the CACIB is already a confirmed C.I.B., or is too young/ineligible, the RCACIB can be elevated to a full CACIB. This process is usually handled automatically by the FCI, but it is highly recommended to track it and request confirmation through your national club.
