Spain's championship system, governed by the Real Sociedad Canina de España (RSCE), is considered one of the most demanding in the FCI world. As a member of Europe's "Big Four," Spain maintains high standards for its titles. The cornerstone of the Spanish system is the Punto Obligatorio (PO) — a mandatory championship point that can only be earned at two specific flagship shows per year or recognized breed specialties.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Punto Obligatorio (PO) show? +

A Punto Obligatorio is a mandatory win required for any Spanish Championship. There are usually two per year: one fixed in Madrid and one that rotates to different cities. Without a CAC/CCJ/CCV from a PO show or a recognized Specialty, the title cannot be confirmed.

Can I use a CAC from a different country? +

No. Spain does not offer a fast-track system. All required CACs must be earned at shows licensed by the RSCE within Spain. However, being a champion of another country may be a prerequisite for the Grand Champion title or specific classes.

Are working trials required in Spain? +

For breeds subject to working trials under FCI regulations (Groups 1, 2, and 7 primarily), the RSCE requires proof of a passing grade in a relevant working test to confirm the title of Spanish Beauty Champion (CH ES).

How is the Iberian Champion title different? +

The Iberian Champion (Campeón Ibérico) is a cross-border title requiring wins in both Spain and Portugal. It is independent of the national Spanish Championship but highly valued by exhibitors in the region.
