Dogs West

Dogs West is the controlling body for pure bred dogs in Western Australia and one of the eight state and territory member bodies of Dogs Australia. Its stated purpose is promoting responsible dog ownership.

The association is run by a Governing Council elected by its members. Elections are held each year, with a third of the council elected for each financial year, while the president and vice president are popularly elected by the members for two-year terms. Council meets on the fourth Wednesday of most months and members may attend as observers; every councillor signs a non-disclosure agreement. Beside the council the association runs its work through named committees and working parties.

Dogs West registers breeders and their prefixes, publishes a registered breeder directory and breed standards, licenses shows and trials, and covers conformation alongside agility, obedience, herding, tracking, retrieving, field trials, endurance, earthdog, scent work, dances with dogs and junior handling.

Its president is Pamela Campbell, an international all breed judge who breeds Whippets under the Harroway prefix; the governing council page lists her as elected to 2026, and her own judge biography gives the office as held since 2016.
