Background and role
The Kennel Union of the Republic of Azerbaijan, based in Baku, is the national canine organisation for Azerbaijan recognised by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, which lists it as its member for the country. It registers pedigrees, runs the national and international shows held in Azerbaijan, and is the body under which Azerbaijani judges are recorded — their FCI registrations carry codes in the form AZ followed by a number. It was founded by Zaur Agabeyli, who has been its president since 2001 and judges internationally across all breeds.
