Club Belge des Chiens de Saint-Hubert (CBSH)

The Club Belge des Chiens de Saint-Hubert — in Dutch Belgische Club voor Sint-Hubertushonden, abbreviated CBSH and BCSH — is the Belgian breed club for the Chien de Saint-Hubert, the hound that carries the name of the Ardennes abbey where it was bred and which the English-speaking world knows as the Bloodhound. The club is a non-profit association and is affiliated to Societe Royale Saint-Hubert, the national canine organisation of Belgium.

Its statutes set out the purpose plainly: to bring together breeders and enthusiasts of the Chien de Saint-Hubert, to maintain and improve the breed, to watch over the application of the breed standard and clarify it where needed, and to promote the Saint-Hubert as a working dog. The same article records that the club accepts the conventions of 1828 and 1908 on which Belgian cynology rests. The registered office is in Kain, in the province of Hainaut.

Activity runs along both lines named in that purpose. Alongside the club show, the calendar carries tracking work — pistage in French, speuren in Dutch — and organised walks, including one in the town of Saint-Hubert itself. The club publishes a breeders' list and litter announcements, mediates enquiries about puppies, keeps a record of its champions and issues a club magazine. Everything appears in French and Dutch side by side, as the membership does.

The committee is a small one. Marie-Paule Preyse serves as secretary and handles puppy enquiries, Stefano Kicq is treasurer, Camille Luthun runs the boutique, Jacqueline Vandenhove organises the walks and events, Sylvana Severeyns is responsible for the club magazine and Marianne Biernaux keeps the club's Facebook presence. A. Denissen and H. Buelens are honorary members, as was the late W. Van der Sichel.
