Myndeklubben (MK)

Myndeklubben (MK) is the premier organization in Denmark dedicated to sighthounds and their owners. The club serves as a vibrant community for enthusiasts who share a deep passion for these elegant breeds, offering a supportive environment where both dogs and owners can socialize, train, and compete.

Core Mission and Activities

The club's primary mission is to foster a strong community through a variety of engaging activities that cater to the natural instincts and physical needs of sighthounds. Key activities include:

• Dog Shows: The club organizes numerous exhibitions throughout the year, providing members with opportunities to showcase their dogs. They actively encourage participation from puppy owners by offering significant discounts for baby and puppy classes.
• Lure Coursing (LC): A cornerstone of the club's activities, Lure Coursing allows sighthounds to exercise their natural hunting instincts in a controlled, competitive environment. The club hosts regular training sessions across different regions of Denmark, as well as national and international competitions.
• Social Gatherings: Beyond formal competition, the club facilitates informal meetups and scenic walks, strengthening the bond between members and their dogs.
• Education and Training: The club provides resources such as handler courses to help owners prepare for shows and improve their skills in the ring.

Breeds and Recognition

Myndeklubben covers sighthound breeds, including those in FCI Group 10 and specific breeds in Group 5, such as the Pharaoh Hound, Podenco Ibicenco, Podengo Português, and Cirneco dell'Etna. The club is highly active in celebrating the achievements of its members, regularly updating titles for champions in both beauty and performance categories. They also promote the recognition of new breeds, such as the Kazakh Tazy.

Rules and Membership

The club maintains high standards for breeding and health, including specific requirements such as heart scanning for Irish Wolfhounds, which will become a mandatory breeding requirement starting September 1, 2025. Members are encouraged to participate in the "Dansk Beauty and Performance Champion" (DKBPCH) program, which requires a combination of success in official dog shows and Lure Coursing competitions. The club also offers services to members, such as the promotion of official titles on their website and social media, and the option to update a dog's pedigree design.
