Labradorinnoutajakerho (LNK)
Finnish breed association for the Labrador Retriever
About the Club
Background and role
Labradorinnoutajakerho ry is the Finnish breed association for the Labrador Retriever. It works for the breed by promoting the breeding of sound Labradors and by getting owners to do with their dogs what the breed was made for; its motto asks for a healthy, active and beautiful Labrador.
The club was founded in 1980. Between 1994 and 1999 it operated as a breed-interest association within the Finnish retriever organisation, and on 20 November 1999 it was granted the rights of a breed association (rotujärjestö), since when it has been an independent member association of the Suomen Kennelliitto.
Its work is nationwide. It runs official retriever aptitude and hunting tests, tracking tests, obedience and water rescue tests, and alongside them unofficial but well-regarded hunting trials of its own. Its Club Show carries a set of perpetual trophies, among them the Kennel Wetten trophy for the breeder of the best Finnish-bred dog - the kennel of the judge Eeva Rautala, Wetten.
