Saksanseisojakerho (SSK)

Saksanseisojakerho (SSK) is the official breed organization for continental pointing dogs in Finland. With a rich history spanning over 80 years, the club serves as the primary authority and community for enthusiasts of versatile hunting dogs that are exceptionally well-suited to the demanding Finnish environment. The club's core mission is to promote the breeding of healthy, functional hunting dogs and to support owners in training and field activities.

The organization covers a wide range of continental pointing breeds, ensuring specialized care and development for each. The breeds represented include:

• German Shorthaired Pointer, German Wirehaired Pointer, and German Longhaired Pointer
• Weimaraner (short and long-haired)
• Hungarian Vizsla (short and wirehaired)
• Breton, Spinone, and Bourbonnais Pointer
• Large and Small Münsterländer
• Korthals Griffon, Pont-Audemer Spaniel, and Stabijhoun
• Various other continental pointing breeds

• Field Trials and Competitions: The club hosts hundreds of KAER (pointing dog special trials) events annually. Notable events include the Junkkari, Riistakoira, Esko's Mark, Nokkala Rally, Ladies' Trial, and the SSK Winter Trial.
• Training and Education: SSK provides extensive resources for training, including a podcast series (Seisojapuhetta), puppy guides, and expert-led educational content on field work and hunting cooperation.
• Breeding and Governance: The club operates through various committees, including breeding, field trial, conformation, and youth committees, which ensure that breeding standards are maintained and that members have access to expert guidance.
