Suomen Belgianpaimenkoirayhdistys ry (SBPKY), established in 1971, serves as the primary organization in Finland dedicated to the Belgian Shepherd breed. The association's core mission is to promote interest in the breed, foster a strong sense of community among enthusiasts, and advance the proper care, breeding, and training of these versatile dogs.

The Belgian Shepherd is recognized as a highly adaptable working dog. Originally bred as a herding dog, the breed has evolved into a multi-talented service dog that also excels as a family companion. The club covers all four distinct varieties of the breed, which are categorized by their coat type and color:

• Groenendael: Long-haired and black.
• Laekenois: Rough-haired and reddish-brown.
• Malinois: Short-haired and reddish-brown with a black mask.
• Tervueren: Long-haired and reddish-brown or grey with a black mask.
