About the Club

Information and activities

Der Club für Britische Hütehunde e.V. (CfBrH) stands as the oldest and largest organization in Germany dedicated to the promotion and preservation of British herding dog breeds. As a studbook-keeping association, the club is officially affiliated with the VDH (Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen) and the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale). With a membership base of nearly 4,000 individuals and an impressive annual registration of over 3,000 puppies, the CfBrH serves as a cornerstone for enthusiasts and breeders alike.

The club is responsible for the oversight and development of several distinct breeds, including:

  • Collie (Long-haired and Short-haired)
  • Border Collie
  • Bearded Collie
  • Welsh Corgi (Cardigan and Pembroke)
  • Bobtail (Old English Sheepdog)
  • Sheltie

Core Mission and Activities: The CfBrH is structured into 18 regional groups (Landesgruppen), ensuring a nationwide presence that fosters community and professional development. Members benefit from a wide array of activities, ranging from dog shows and educational seminars to social gatherings and grooming workshops. Furthermore, the club places a strong emphasis on canine sports, with Agility and general obedience training playing an increasingly significant role in the club's daily operations.

Breeding Standards and Quality Control: The club prides itself on maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and breeding excellence. It boasts an extensive network of experienced breeding wardens, as well as a team of highly qualified judges. To ensure the integrity of the breeds, the CfBrH enforces strict regulations: new breeders must provide proof of expertise before commencing their activities, and established breeders are required to undergo continuous professional development every two years. Additionally, the club hosts approximately 18 CAC exhibitions annually, which serve as convenient venues for mandatory breeding assessments (Körungen) conducted by specialized judges.

Communication and Resources: To keep its members informed, the CfBrH publishes the "Club-Report" every two months. This magazine provides comprehensive updates on club activities, industry news, and a detailed exhibition calendar, ensuring that all members remain connected and well-informed about the latest developments within the organization.
