About the Club
Background and role
The Deutscher Pointerclub e.V. is the German breed club for the English Pointer, with its seat at Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia and entered in the register of associations at the Gießen district court. It exists for breeders, handlers and followers of the breed, and publishes the breed standard and history alongside its breeding regulations, its register of stud dogs and litters, and the rules for its working tests and shows.
The club is chaired by Carsten Coordes, who joined it in 2010 and ran its show committee from 2012 to 2021 before taking the chair; he first saw a pointer working in the field in 1998 and has hunted over the breed since 2000. The club is also preparing portraits of the people who shaped it, beginning with its founding members Luca Bortoli and Karl Wolf.
Its club show is one of the fixed points of the German pointer year: in 2025 it was judged by Heike Dreißig, and the winner came from the Gillarry's kennel of David Bielefeld.
