About the Club
Information and activities
La Società Amatori Cane Corso (SACC) is the official breed association dedicated to the preservation, study, and promotion of the Cane Corso Italiano. Founded on October 18, 1983, the organization was established by a group of passionate breeders and enthusiasts with the primary mission of recovering and safeguarding this historic Italian breed. Their dedicated efforts were instrumental in the official recognition of the Cane Corso as the 14th Italian breed by the Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana (ENCI) on January 20, 1994.
Today, the SACC operates as an official specialized association under the ENCI, tasked with the formal protection of the breed. Its core objectives include:
- Genetic Improvement: Focusing on the health, vigor, and structural integrity of the breed.
- Education and Advocacy: Providing resources, webinars, and expert guidance on breeding, raising, and living with the Cane Corso.
- Breed Valorization: Promoting the historical significance and versatile utility of the dog.
The Cane Corso is described as a molossoid of medium-to-large size, characterized by its strength, agility, and elegance. With roots tracing back to the Canis pugnax of ancient Rome, the breed has served for millennia as a guardian, shepherd, and protector. The SACC emphasizes the breed's deep loyalty, territorial nature, and reactive temperament, which make it an exceptional family companion.
The association is highly active in the canine community, organizing a variety of events to foster engagement among enthusiasts. These activities include:
- Raduni (Breed Gatherings): Specialized exhibitions and meetings that allow members to showcase their dogs and share experiences.
- Working Trials: Events designed to test and maintain the functional capabilities of the breed.
- Professional Development: Hosting webinars and seminars on topics such as breeding contracts and legal aspects of canine ownership, led by industry experts.
By joining the SACC, members gain access to a network of experts, judges, and fellow enthusiasts, providing a platform for continuous learning and improvement in the field of cynology. The club remains a cornerstone for anyone committed to the responsible stewardship of the Cane Corso, ensuring that this noble Italian breed continues to thrive for future generations.
