The Welsh Corgi League (WCL) serves as a dedicated fellowship for enthusiasts committed to the future and welfare of the Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) breed. Operating as a community for Corgi lovers both domestically and internationally, the organization is driven by a core mission to promote the interests of the breed through education, advocacy, and high standards of care.

Membership and Ethics

Membership is open to those who share a passion for the Pembroke Corgi, whether they are pet owners, breeders, or enthusiasts interested in activities like agility and showing. Prospective members must be proposed by a current member of at least three years standing and are subject to approval by the Executive Committee.

A cornerstone of the organization is its strict Code of Ethics. All members are required to adhere to rigorous standards regarding animal welfare, which include:

• Ensuring proper housing, nutrition, and veterinary care for all dogs.
• Adopting responsible breeding practices, including age restrictions for dams and limits on the number of litters.
• Prohibiting the sale of dogs to commercial wholesalers or pet dealers.
• Committing to the lifelong welfare of the dogs, including assistance with re-homing if necessary.
