About the Club
Information and activities
The Philippine Canine Club, Inc. (PCCI) stands as the premier organization dedicated to the advancement and welfare of purebred dogs in the Philippines. Established on March 21, 1963, the PCCI operates as a non-stock, non-profit, service-oriented corporation. With a charter extending through 2038, the organization is officially authorized to maintain comprehensive stud books and registries for purebred dogs, while also serving as the primary governing body for dog shows and competitive canine events within the country.
Core Mission and Activities
The fundamental mission of the PCCI is to promote and encourage the love, responsible ownership, and preservation of purebred dogs. To achieve this, the club organizes a variety of activities, including:
- Dog Shows and Competitions: The PCCI hosts prestigious events, such as the Philippine Circuit, which showcase the excellence of purebred dogs.
- Performance Training: The club facilitates training programs for agility and flyball, encouraging active engagement between owners and their dogs.
- Registry Services: The PCCI maintains official stud books, ensuring the integrity and documentation of purebred lineages.
- Educational Outreach: Through its online magazines and circulars, the club provides members with essential information regarding canine health, standards, and club regulations.
Breeds and Listing Programs
While the PCCI aligns with international standards, it also demonstrates inclusivity through its specialized Listing Program. This initiative allows for the registration of breeds not currently recognized by the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), such as the American Pitbull Terrier, American Bulldog, and American Bully. Dogs enrolled in this program are issued a PCCI Listing Certificate, which grants them eligibility to participate in PCCI-sanctioned championship and performance events. While these dogs can earn PCCI championship points, they are ineligible for international CACIB certificates. To maintain the integrity of this program, all listed dogs are required to be microchipped.
Governance and Standards
The PCCI operates under a strict set of guidelines, including a formal Code of Ethics and established Rules and Regulations designed to uphold the welfare of the animals and the professionalism of the sport. By partnering with organizations such as the Department of Tourism, the Department of Agriculture, and international entities like The Kennel Club, the PCCI continues to elevate the standards of canine care and competition in the Philippines.
