Svenska Polarhundklubben (SPHK)

Svenska Polarhundklubben (SPHK) serves as the sole official breed club dedicated to the polar spitz breeds in Sweden. Operating as a specialized club under the umbrella of the Svenska Kennelklubben (SKK), SPHK plays a pivotal role in the preservation and development of these unique canine breeds. With a nationwide community of over 1,300 members, the organization acts as a central hub for enthusiasts, breeders, and owners committed to the welfare of polar dogs.

The core mission of SPHK is to safeguard the distinct characteristics of the polar spitz breeds and to foster the conditions necessary for maintaining a healthy, viable population of these dogs within Sweden. The club is deeply involved in the promotion of breed standards and the responsible management of the following four breeds:

• Alaskan Malamute
• Grönlandshund (Greenland Dog)
• Samojedhund (Samoyed)
• Siberian Husky

While each of these breeds maintains its own individual breed club, SPHK provides the overarching framework for collective activities and official representation. A significant part of the club's operational mandate includes the organization of official dog shows with certificate rights, allowing members to showcase their dogs and have them evaluated against established breed standards.
