About the Kennel

Background and breeding focus

The kennel

Kazia is the German Shorthaired Pointer prefix that Carolyn Butler and her husband Lynn began in 1970. Their tally of home-bred champions in the breed stands at seventy-six, with ten Best in Show all breeds and thirty-five individual Best Exhibit in Group winners between them holding over a hundred Best in Group wins at championship shows. Over thirty Kazia dogs have also gained obedience, agility, tracking, endurance and field titles, including one of the small handful of Australian Dual Champions in breed and obedience and another in breed and field. The kennel was the first to import a German Shorthaired Pointer from the United States and pioneered the importation of frozen semen in the breed from the United States and England, and it has exported to New Zealand, France, Sweden, the United States, Hong Kong, Noumea, Vanuatu, Guam and the Philippines. Beside the pointers the household has titled a Whippet, a Papillon and some nine Hungarian Vizslas.
