Rüdiger Mai has since died. The Hessen-Süd regional group of the association now holds a regional breed show in his memory, the Rüdiger-Mai-Gedächtnis-LG-Zuchtschau. The show carries his own name rather than the kennel's — a distinction the club itself makes in its reports on it.
