History and breeding focus
Di Roccascura is one of the oldest affixes still active in the Italian register: the Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana carries it under number 247, held by Fabrizio Bonanno at Mercallo dei Sassi, in the province of Varese, Lombardy. The breed recorded against the affix is the Italian Volpino, of the fifth ENCI group of spitz and primitive types, with 31 January 2026 as the date of the most recent litter; a directory of ENCI affixes gives the same town and the same breed. The same article names very few other kennels working with the red variety and notes that they all belong to the association that protects the breed in Italy. The article also documents a dog of the kennel by name: it presents "Belisaria di Roccascura", stating that she was bred by Fabrizio Bonanno and is owned by Cinzia Vicini, holder of the Luna Cremisi kennel. Fabrizio Bonanno holds working-trial appointments as well.
