Founded in 1975 and based in Columbus, Ohio, the National K-9 Learning Center (NK9) has established itself as a prominent institution dedicated to the fields of dog training, behavior modification, and professional trainer education. For five decades, the center has focused on its core mission of enhancing the relationship between dogs and their owners through expert instruction and specialized canine services.

The School for Dog Trainers

In 1981, the institution expanded its impact by establishing the School for Dog Trainers. This program is specifically designed to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to pursue professional careers in the canine training industry. The curriculum is structured to prepare graduates for both full-time and part-time professional roles. Key features of the educational program include:

• Professional Certification: The school is regulated and approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. Graduates are authorized to use the title of Certified Professional Trainer (CPT).
• Practical and Classroom Instruction: Students receive a blend of theoretical classroom learning and hands-on practical workshops, with the option to bring a dog to participate in training exercises.
• Global Reach: With over 2,500 graduates, the program has trained professionals across all 50 United States and in more than 50 foreign countries.

Canine Services and Behavior Counseling
