About the Club

Background and role

The Red Club calls itself the club of those who love the Irish setters, and it is the official French breed club for them, affiliated to the Société Centrale Canine.

Most of its year is spent in the field rather than the ring. Its pages keep separate sections for spring trials, for wild game, natural game and shot game, and for the grande quête — the wide-ranging search that is the hardest of the pointing trials — beside its champions, its trialers and its list of trainers. The Nationale d'Élevage of 2026 is held at Fresney-le-Puceux in the Calvados, and the club runs Irish days with the natural aptitude test alongside it.

Pascal Bouée is its contact for DNA, cotation and health. He holds the Gordon Setter, the Irish Red Setter and the Irish Red and White Setter at the French training rank — the club's own breeds are the breeds he may train other judges in.
