Judging Credentials
Paul Stanton, born 1950 and originally from England, awarded his first Challenge Certificates there for Lhasa Apsos (1974) and Tibetan Terriers (1975), judging Lhasas at Crufts in 1981 as the youngest judge to date given that honour. He relocated to Sweden in 1977 and now judges under the Svenska Kennelklubben, first licensed there on 7 April 1980 and achieving FCI all-breed status in 1996; he has since judged in more than 50 countries across all continents and is fluent in English and Swedish.
Breeding β Kennel "Tintavon"
Stanton got his first dog, a Shetland Sheepdog named Tint, in 1964, worked at the Hardacre kennels from 1966, and acquired his first Lhasa Apso and Tibetan Terrier shortly after. Under the prefix "Tintavon" he bred the first Tibetan Terrier to win an all-breeds Best in Show anywhere in the world (Birmingham National, Great Britain, 1974), and ten Lhasa Apsos that went on to win all-breed BIS, including Int Nordic Ch Tintavon Desdemona, Top Dog All Breeds in Sweden, Finland and the Nordic countries in 1979. In 1993 he received the Swedish Kennel Club's Hamilton Plaque for outstanding Lhasa Apso breeding. He also bred Whippets and international champion Brown Miniature Poodles, and in 2012 imported the first litter of Thai Bangkaew Dogs into Europe. Since 1980, "Tintavon" has been a partnership with fellow FCI judge TorbjΓΆrn Skaar.
